Technical Services

Working closely with and under the direction of the Leadership and in consultation with the people of this First Nation, Technical Services is fulfilling the goal of developing the lands of the Mikisew Cree First Nation as espoused by the Mission Statement.

To underscore the enormity of the tasks this department is responsible for, Technical Services is well into a nationally acclaimed and recognized reserve and community development project for the Allison Bay reserve of the Mikisew Cree First Nation. An eight year project, this undertaking involves the construction of 78 new homes and the relocation of 161 homes from Fort Chipewyan to the reserve by the year 2004. This project also includes the development of the infrastructure of the reserve with the construction of the water and sewer lines and treatment plants, roads, power and telephone grids, residential and commercial areas and a park.

Often referred to as a department that is actually many departments rolled into one, the many functions, programs and services of Technical Services are illustrated as follows:

New Housing Projects: Applications for housing projects are available at the Technical Services Office. New housing projects are limited each year.

Unit Inspection Services Forms are available at the Technical Service Office.

Renovations and Emergency Home Repair: There are limited number of renovations started each year. Applications are available at the Technical Service Office
